Cullen takes a holistic approach to teaching, incorporating mindfulness exercises into daily music practice. He is kind, patient, and will go above and beyond to make sure his students will feel motivated and passionate about their art. Cullen started his musical journey playing trombone at Owen J. Roberts, focusing mainly on jazz and classical styles.

Cullen moved to Philadelphia to pursue a degree in jazz composition. Since then, he has been working with various groups around Philly, playing many styles like blues, rock, jam, jazz, and classical.

Cullen is the bass player of his band Animal Instincts, a jazz based jam band, who have played at a few notable venues such as The Gem, Atlantic City Blues Fest, The Philly Stoop, and Sweeney's.

As well as playing live, Cullen spends a lot of time songwriting, both using notation and songwriting techniques. His main style of writing and performing is ambient music. Cullen enjoys creating live soundscapes for live theatre and film.

Working as a professional musician in the jazz scene has given Cullen great insight into the world of improvisation and learning music by ear. This has since been his approach to music because he believes that connecting your mind to the music can fully make you a better musician. Music is also a great tool in times of struggle, and Cullen hopes to be able to share that ability with his students. Music can be very healing, as it is flowing within all of us!

Cullen is currently accepting new students at the Carriage House studio.
